As long as the Client Hints API is a standard and not a Chrome feature then this is great. User Agent strings have always been trash. There has never been a time in my 15 years of web development that I enjoyed having to do anything with them.

A friend of mine interviewed someone who works at Rikers Island and wrote about it. So many important questions we need answers to:
Right now, what I would like to ask is: What are the measures that will be taken if this outbreak takes over the island? How would the employees be treated? What would happen to inmates? How would the isolation go? We already have facilities on the island that are closed down. If they’re going to open these facilities, who are the people that are going to work there? No one would want to risk working in a place where a lot of people are very sick. How can we test everyone? We don’t have enough test kits in New York City. If you get sick, how would that affect your job? Are we going to get quarantined on the island? If so, how long would that be? What would be the outcome after? When all the smoke clears, are there going to be layoffs? We’re releasing all of these inmates. If the rate of inmates goes down, what’s going to happen in the facility? Because we have approximately 6,000 officers to 4,000 inmates. How is that going to go?
It always sucks when things make it harder for people to communicate, but I’m having a hard time feeling bad about this happening to Facebook.
I’ve been watching people stream this. It looks good! It seems like a really deep experience that’s unfortunately still out of reach for a lot of people.

I’ve been hearing about this over the past few days. Loss of smell and/or taste might be a symptom of COVID-19. If you’re experiencing anything like that, it’s a good idea to self isolate until you’re feeling normal again.
Hopefully sometime soon I’ll be able to give the better advice of getting a home testing kit in this case.

I bought some anti-viral tissues recently just because I saw them while I was shopping and figured it was a decent thing to get. But every time I used one I wondered if they actually helped at all. I finally looked it up and… nah, they don’t really seem that effective.

The US Federal government doesn’t have the ability to impose a national quarantine. Turns out this was just a rumor.

All over America, the coronavirus is revealing, or at least reminding us, just how much of contemporary American life is bullshit, with power structures built on punishment and fear as opposed to our best interest. Whenever the government or a corporation benevolently withdraws some punitive threat because of the coronavirus, it’s a signal that there was never any good reason for that threat to exist in the first place.

Okay, my (very) limited understanding of quantum computing is that it could be exponentially more powerful than classical computing, but right now there are some problems like total running time (milliseconds? nanoseconds?) and very noisy data (considering that’s just quantum mechanics work). This project is machine learning (the thing people have been calling AI for a while) ON quantum computers to help with noisy data, and a bridge between quantum data and classical data.
I can’t tell if this is the beginning of the end of the human race OR just the only way we’ll ever get useful data out of quantum computing at all.
