Dwayne is a Black American business owner and software engineer with an interest in technology and gaming, systems design, and information science.
I had been working full time as a web and app developer at a variety of companies from 2005 to 2020. In 2020, I decided to switch to self-employed freelance development to have an easier time choosing which organizations to work with and to commit a portion of my time to building this web platform. I created Dwayne Harris, LLC at that point, which at the time was mostly created to organize my freelance work.
Since then, the following things have become more apparent and important to me:
- The value of knowledge, information, and data.
- An understanding information science and the ability to contextualize events and recognize misinformation.
- Strategic thinking, long-term sustainability, and well-designed solutions to problems.
- Independence and the de-centralization of power and resources away from large institutions and towards individuals, communities, unions, and focused organizations.
- The least harmful and most effective use of software and technology to help achieve goals.
Over time, the business has grown into an extension of these ideas.
I organized the majority of my engineering work into a collection of software and services that I named the DwayneWeb Platform, which serves as the technical foundation for the company and the various websites, apps, and other projects that are planned.
